Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman Baby Rumors Nixed

If you believe everything you read, country star Keith Urban and his Oscar winning wife, Nicole Kidman, have had “about 30 babies by now.”

That’s according to Kidman’s spokesperson, who dismissed new rumors that the actress is pregnant. As you can tell, this is a semi-frequent thing.

Nicole and Keith Urban, who married in 2006 (the same year he released his hit album Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing, have no children. Kidman has two adopted children, ages 14 and 12, with her first husband, actor Tom Cruise.

Keith Urban won’t be a daddy just yet… we don’t think.

Urban and Kidman, both 40, have dodged baby questions in the past, denying that they were trying to get pregnant, but admitting they’d love to raise some children together …. someday. Kidman just wrapped up filming a new epic movie, called Australia, while Keith Urban has taken a month off from touring.

Keith hits the road again in January for a tour with Carrie Underwood!

Carrie Underwood Boasts Top Country Album of 2007

Carrie Underwood’s Some Hearts was the top country album of 2007, according to Billboard, and her follow-up, Carnival Ride, may follow suit.

Carrie’s new single from Carnival Ride, “All-American Girl,” was co-written by Carrie herself along with Nashville songwriters Kelley Lovelace and Ashley Gorley.

As Underwood, 24, tells Dial-Global, each of the track’s three writers put some of their own history into “All-American Girl.”

“I think everybody kind of put their own viewpoints on it, and for me it was being the last of three girls,” she says of the second single from Carnival Ride.

Carrie Underwood is the youngest of three daughters.

“I was my parents’ last-ditch effort at having a boy … not that there’s anything wrong with having girls, but I know that they probably would’ve liked to have switched things up a little bit and had a little boy.”

Some Hearts, her debut album released in 2005, was the year’s top seller, having sold at least six million copies to date. Carnival Ride, released in October of this year, has already given Carrie another two million in U.S. sales alone.

Carrie Underwood is keeping busy after Christmas, as the fourth season American Idol winner is slated to perform live, in New York City’s Times Square, on New Year’s Eve as part of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2008.

Her tour with Keith Urban begins January 31 in Connecticut.

Radiohead New Year’s Concert to Be Shown Via Webcast

Never a group you can expect to be conventional, and always one to put on a hell of a concert, Radiohead is set to webcast its upcoming New Year’s gig.

During the band’s “Thumb’s Down” webcast, which took place last month, the acclaimed British band parodied the Brad Pitt film Se7en.

Thom Yorke and his cohorts are excited for The New Year’s webcast, which will feature the band performing all tracks from their latest album, In Rainbows.

Guitarist Ed O’Brien said they would be doing more cover songs.

Radiohead has previously covered The Smiths and Bjork during telecasts.

Reports have hinted that Thom Yorke, Ed O’Brien, Phil Selway and Colin and Jimmy Greenwood are “likely” to cover a Siouxsie and the Banshees track.

The upcoming New Year’s Radiohead performance will be aired exclusively in the United States by Current TV on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Phil Costello the head of TBD Records, Radiohead’s U.S. record label, said: “We are pleased to partner with Current for its innovative spirit.”

Jay-Z to Resign as Def Jam President

After a three-year stint as president of Def Jam Records, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z is officially stepping down as CEO, according to Universal Music Group.

Jay-Z’s exit comes after the recording company allegedly refused to adhere to the rapper / executive’s contract extension requests, but the star himself insists that it was simply time for him to move on to explore new opportunities.

“Now it’s time to move on, to take on new challenges,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “I am pleased to have had the opportunity to build upon the Def Jam legacy.”

And what a legacy it is. The rap star signed acts such as R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo and Barbados native Rihanna during his tenure as head honcho.

Jay-Z

Jay-Z: Rapper turned suit turned rapper again?

Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, joined Def Jam in 2004 after announcing his rap “retirement,” which included not just a retirement party, but a sold-out concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden in support of his illustrious career and supposed “last” studio album, The Black Album, and the film Fade to Black.

Jay-Z, who’s released 10 studio albums and won six Grammy Awards, is expected to continue with Def Jam as an artist. His latest release, the conceptual album American Gangster (2007), has sold approximately 784,000 copies worldwide.

Noel Gallagher Named Coolest Man in Britain

Noel Gallagher, the principal guitarist and songwriter of Oasis, has been voted the coolest man in Britain by readers of mens monthly Zoo magazine.

The 40-year-old Oasis star topped the poll ahead of a Top five featuring Liverpool footballer Steven Gerrard, Doctor Who star David Tennant, James Bond actor Daniel Craig and international soccer star David Beckham.

Zoo editor Ben Todd said of Noel Gallagher’s surprise victory: “These inaugural awards have revealed some quite surprising results with Noel Gallagher, who has acquired something of an ‘elder statesman’ role, topping the poll.

“It shows that he is someone young people today strive to be like - perhaps even more so than when Oasis dominated the charts a decade ago.”

Even Liam Gallagher (below) isn’t as cool as Noel Gallagher!

Other music stars in the British countdown included Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner at 10, Noel’s younger, wilder brother and band-mate, Liam Gallagher, at No. 22, Sir Paul McCartney at 55, Sir Mick Jagger at 73 and Simon Cowell at 98.

With only the two Gallaghers remaining from their original lineup, Oasis is currently working on its seventh album, to be released sometime in 2008.

The Filthy Youth Featured on New Gossip Girl

Ed Westwick plays charismatic bad boy Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl, a young gent so dirty he conjures up memories of Oasis’ Noel and Liam Gallagher.

Well, when he’s not acting, the filthy youth actually fronts a band called just that - and two of his songs will be played on Gossip Girl January 2.

Westwick’s London band, The Filthy Youth, will be heard as “Orange” and “Come Flash All You Ladies” play on the January 2 episode, entitled “School Lies.”

As lead singer, Ed Westwick co-wrote both tunes with rhythm guitarist Jimmy Wright. Gossip Girl’s network, The CW says that Westwick describes “Orange” a song about being with friends and “ripping it up,” while “Come Flash All You Ladies” is about certain women Ed Westwick has met throughout his life.

Ashlee Simpson to Release More “Music” in ‘08

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from Ashlee Simpson. Mercifully.

Her sophomore album, I Am Me, failed to live up to expectations after her debut, Autobiography. The SNL incident surely didn’t help in that regard.

But the younger sister of Jessica Simpson sister is set to take over the pop music world once again, and people will probably still buy it.

People are idiots, after all. In any case, Ashlee began inching her way back into the limelight with an appearance on MTV’s Total Request Live.

The talented and not at all fake-looking Ashlee Simpson.

Her new album is entitled Bittersweet World and will hit stores in March of next year. The new single “Outta My Head” and its video are already out.

“I had been thinking about it, but then I guess today I just decided that I’m gonna call my album Bittersweet World,” Ashlee Simpson announced.

“It’s the title of one of the songs on my record. I was contemplating calling it Color Outside the Lines for a while, but Bittersweet World is the one I felt was the best. It’s kind of how I feel about the world right now.”

The “La La” singer added, “Bittersweet World is definitely influenced by ’80s music. I wanted to do music with beats, I wanted to step outside the box. It’s where I am in my life. There’s parts of the record that are ’80s-influenced, because that’s just kind of where I’m at right now. I’m more laid-back, and I want to dance around, and I kind of laugh at things a lot, so you’ll hear that.”

We laugh at things too, Ashlee. Namely yourself.

Don’t Call Miranda Lambert Crazy

Well, at least not anymore.

Country stunner Miranda Lambert may write and sing about the gun-wielding, vengeful women of America, but she’s admittedly much more serene than her lyrics these days. The singer has newfound sense of security - personally and professionally - with the help of a new love and a new album.

For a girl who says she doesn’t laugh much, the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend singer cracks us up multiple times in a recent interview with AOL music. Excerpts below …

AOL: Congratulations on your recent Grammy Award nomination. Where were you when you heard the news?

Miranda Lambert: I was driving with my boyfriend [fellow country star Blake Shelton] from Houston to Oklahoma, and I got a text from someone that said, “Congratulations on your nomination!” And I didn’t really know what for. I started calling around, and no one was answering their phone. So it took about 30 minutes to figure out what I even got. To me, the Grammys are the ultimate. They’re not political. They just go for what they think is great.

Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert, 24, is a rising star on the country scene.

AOL: Do you have any Grammy predictions. Is there anyone you’re rooting for?

Miranda Lambert: I’m just hoping I’ll get to meet Beyonce. Maybe I’ll get to sit by her or something.

AOL: Would you ever cover “Irreplaceable” or any other Beyonce song live?

Miranda Lambert: No way! There’s a rule: if you can’t do it as well as the original artist, don’t do it. I don’t think country folk should be singing Beyonce.

AOL: Along with Taylor Swift, you’ve been making a great deal of “Best Albums of 2007″ lists with your sophomore CD, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. What would you say is the most autobiographical song on the album?

Miranda Lambert: That would have to be “Famous in a Small Town,” because I wrote it in my hometown, and everything in it really did happen. That would have to be the song that would describe me most. But then my favorite song is probably “Desperation.” In Kerosene and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - throughout both albums there’s a theme, and it’s being strong. Even if you’re going to make yourself vulnerable, like in “Desperation,” I think it takes a lot to say you’re desperate for someone. It takes being strong just to admit that you’re weak.

Notorious B.I.G. Wrongful Death Suit Thrown Out

A federal judge dismissed a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of the late Notorious B.I.G., a.k.a. Christopher Wallace, as of Monday of this week.

Judge Florence-Marie Cooper granted a request made by the defendants - the city of Los Angeles and former LAPD officer Rafeal Perez - dropping the case on grounds that family failed to file the suit within the designated time frame.

The Notorious B.I.G.

The slaying of The Notorious B.I.G. (1972-1997) remains unsolved.

The family of the late New York rapper filed the secondary lawsuit in April 2007, which claimed Rafael Perez conspired to murder The Notorious B.I.G. with fellow former police officers David Mack and Nino Durden.

The rapper’s estate also accused the city of Los Angeles of attempting to cover up the officers’ involvement in the 1997 murder.

“This was not the primary civil-rights claim, that suit is still going forward,” Wallace family’s lead attorney Perry Sanders assured MTV.

“This was a standalone action based on state laws, but the rigorous rules state that if you don’t file suit within six months, then the suit cannot go forward, and we didn’t find out that Perez was on duty until August 2006.”

Ten years after his unsolved murder in California, The Notorious B.I.G. remains one of the most influential figures in rap and hip-hop, with his posthumously released double-album Life After Death becoming one of the first and only works in that genre to ever achieve diamond (10 million sales) certification.

Amy Winehouse has been set free on bail following her arrest in connection with an investigation into perverting the course of justice.

She was arrested and taken into custody earlier this week for questioning in the case, which stems from the involvement of her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.

Scotland Yard, which does not name suspects until after they are charged with a crime, stated: “A 24-year-old woman has been bailed to return to an East London police station on a date in early March pending further inquiries.”

Amy Winehouse was arrested Tuesday in East London.

The Back to Black singer was taken in custody this week for questioning in connection with an investigation into perverting the course of justice.

Amy Winehouse’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is currently remanded in custody on charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice in relation to an assault case that had been pending against him and one other man.

Blake Fielder-Civil, 25, and Michael Brown are accused of assaulting James King, the landlord of Macbeths public house in Hoxton, East London, on June 20.

It is alleged that they conspired to pervert justice by offering King a significant amount of money to withdraw his allegation and leave England.
