Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward to Perform as She and Him

Guff troubadour M. Ward and actress/musician Zooey Deschanel are teaming up to perform as a musical duo.

According to an interview Deschanel with KCRW, she and Ward have christened their act “She and Him.” And then plan on delivering a full-length album titled “Volume One” as soon as this spring.

Ward’s label, Merge, will produce the CD, which is likely to be the first of a few albums, considering its title of “Volume One.”

During the interview, KCRW played the She and Him songs “Sentimental Heart” and “Why Do You Let Me Stay Here,” two ditties featuring Deschanel’s vocals. The actress showcased these vocal talents in the Will Ferrell movie Elf.

Deschanel also addressed the possibility of touring in the interview, saying:

“I don’t know if I will tour exactly, right when [the record] comes out, but I’m sure I will be doing that…”

The two halves of She and Him performed together at this past Tuesday’s “Songs of the City” event in Los Angeles. Check them out here:

KT Tunstall and Luke Bullen are Engaged

Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall is engaged to marry her boyfriend, drummer Luke Bullen, after he proposed to her Christmas Day.

“Being an opportunist, I obviously said yes,” the 32-year-old “Universe and U” singer said, according to People. “It feels smashing.”

That’s one way to put it! A rep for KT Tunstall confirmed the engagement on Friday. The two are scheduled to tie the knot later this year.

Get Ready For a Fall Out Boy Documentary

Industry sources report that legendary documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles is working on a film about … Fall Out Boy.

“Albert came along and was like, ‘I’m really interested in doing something with your band,’ and we did the thing, like, when you’re in high school and the hot girl talks to you, and you sort of look behind you and go, ‘Who, us?’” bassist / lyricist / Ashlee Simpson boy toy Pete Wentz told MTV.

“This guy could document pretty much anything, and he wanted to do something with us. That’s what blew our minds more than anything.”

Fall Out Boy

Maysles filmed five dates of Fall Out Boy’s Young Wild Things tour and then plans on documenting the next year of the band’s career - the recording process of their follow-up album to Infinity On High included. Pete Wentz is unsure of the documentary’s outcome, but is enthused about the process.

“I’m really excited about it, whatever happens, because I think most bands just film a bunch of crap for ‘the official DVD,’ and those are always kind of cheesy,” Wentz, the de facto head of Fall Out Boy, said. “We’d like to have it submitted to some festivals, maybe release it as a proper, real DVD in the fall. All I know is, I can look forward to having Albert and his crew sleeping on my couch.”

Kimya Dawson Helps Shape “Juno” Soundtrack

Positive word of mouth for the new movie Juno couldn’t be stronger, and that is largely due to the soundtrack delivered by Kimya Dawson, who is known for her work as one-half of the Moldy Peaches.

While practically every motion picture has a soundtrack, the songs in most films are often nothing more than background music, artists compiled into an album that hopes to create additional revenue for the production.

Not the case with Juno.

Composer Mateo Messina based the film’s score on Kimya Dawson’s music to help tell the story of Juno, a witty and hilarious Minnesota girl who is dealing with pregnancy at 16. The score reflects Juno’s bittersweet character.

The soundtrack features Belle & Sebastian, the Velvet Underground, Cat Power and others. As integral as Kimya Dawson’s songs were integral to Juno, the songstress gives a more intimate side to the creation of each one.

We the Kings… of 2008?

Four Florida natives - Travis Clark, Hunter Thomsen, Drew Thomsen and Danny Duncan - met while attending King Middle School. From that experienced, a band - We the Kings - was formed, and it’s quickly becoming popular.

We the Kings’ first single, “Skyway Avenue,” won over some big audiences with an affable melody, while the band is enjoying a growing number of prime TV placements, including their ballad “This Is Our Town” on One Tree Hill and “Stay Young” on MTV’s Newport Harbor. Yup, that’s them.

Expect to hear a lot more from these punks. And we use that term in the most endearing sense possible. Who doesn’t love One Tree Hill music?
